It was a few weeks ago that I was contemplating selling my Merry Fisher. Called the broker who sold me the boat, but he never returned my call, so yesterday morning thought I would do a DIY sell. Put an ad on Boats and Outboards at lunchtime and within an hour I had a deposit paid. Just returned from the South Coast today having successfully completed.

That makes it less than 24 hours from beginning to end.

I probably put it up too cheaply, but that is a lot of hassle saved.

Anyone else done something similar?

That is quick! Well done. My record is about 5 days.

Was there any contemplation for after the sale!?

Yes, but I thought I had a bit more time for contemplation than it turned out. I do have a small matter of getting another job after redundancy last month. SWMBO would kill me if a boat arrived before a job :)

I’d been looking for a yacht for many months, even travelling from here in the north east, down as far as Devon to view potential candidates on my short-list. All to no avail.
Looking in the window of the broker at our marina, I overheard someone mentioning that they were thinking of selling their boat. I asked them what it was and was interested to hear that it was much what I was looking for.
A brief look around showed it was just what I wanted and we shook hands there and then on a deal close to the asking price. The sale was completed within the week, sold before it went on the market, no brokers, no survey, no fuss.
