It's just struck me how nice it is not having Craig around anymore to wade in with some agressive bashing of other people's product. It's actually safe now to start an anchor thread.

Hmmm with an RRP of £162 it makes me wonder what went wrong to discount so heavily. After all, there's no shelf life on an anchor.

Good spot though, if I were looking I probably would consider it.

Thanks for noticing SnowLeopard :)

Being totally transparent, it is an imported copy, and on the website it's been put under the clearance section though it doesn't indicate that on the product page itself, so the price is part of a big clearance decrease to clear stock we've still got at the end of the year.

If anyone is genuinely interested, I can get the specs, feel free to drop me a p/m.

Obviously i'm connnected to Gaelforce, just offering the info, not steering the thread towards a commercial interest!

Cheers for the PM's, those that are interested, I've sent replies, but best just put a note here.

On seeing this thread appear, I asked the Purchasing Manager to obtain a copy of the specs for me so I could respond to any queries "officially" as it were via p/m and he said "no problem" and then promptly left for METS..

I am frantically trying to get hold of a copy now in his absence, i'll re-post to let you know.

Sorry about that.

If you checkout Eyeco of Ipswich-mooring specialists you will find these kinds of prices across their range-they import and sell on to other big customers as well as dealing direct with the public.Oh and only £12 for delivery up to 30KG I recall!

If you buy anchors or chain it is likely that they were the importer!

Except their Delta is 3 quid more than the one mentioned here?

And if you're up for comparing, the carriage is more, but I don't like to split hairs too much! ;)

I do now have a copy of the Test Certificate and a few "on the shop floor" photos, if anyone is interested, P/M me with your email address.

Cheers

Thank you for the details Fishy.

I note the certificate states "mild steel". Real Deltas are supposed to be of something a bit better aren't they? Are the dimensions changed to compensate?

Makes me a little bit uneasy to be honest. Perhaps I've been Racno sensitised!

Hi Troubador,

I very much suspect that original Deltas are made of something higher spec. These anchors are an import copy based loosely on the Delta style of anchor and is of a mild steel construction as per the cert.

The sensitised feeling on the forums about anchors at the mo was exactly why I jumped in on seeing this thread and offered any interested parties some more information to make an educated decision before considering a purchase.

Cheers

My local marine megastore

Eyeco sends pallets full of chain to my local marine megastore and possibly anchors.
My local marine megastore also sells shackles made in China out of old bakebean cans with pins that fall out and rope eyes made of similar materials that collapse after several years in salt water.
My local marine magastore does not have a clue how to properly splice multiplait or make a tight enough splice around an eye.
Just personal experiences of my local marine megastore and why I rarly use it these days as it has gone down the toilet and I am not alone.
