If my boat sells then I am thinking of going for a Portofino 46 as my next choice of boat, just wondered does anyone own one, or has anyone owned one in the past if so I would be interested to here you views on this model both good and bad

cheers shawn

Hi Shawn

Any reason why you are moving away from a flybridge?

I have always loved the princess v50. A better looking boat...... IMHO of course.

Hope yours sells and we can have another new boat thread :):):)

just not getting on with the flybridge, always to cold too go up there, we like the sports boat layout for this country as most the year the wind chill Is too cold to enjoy a flybridge in my opinion and we really like he sunseeker lots of space and head room

We both also like the princess v48 but its a bit to much to stretch to and I prefer the hi low platform on the sunseeker for a jetsk and this makes the aft cabin huge

cheers

No experience but the 46 has always looked like a cracking boat.

Are you thinking hard top or open?

the 46 was all open top the hard top is the 47, I actually prefer the open top as I like to remove the sides to leave the bimini top covering me as I don't enjoy the direct sun beating down on me all the time I like to have the shade from it

Looks a lot of boat, also look at Absolute 41 / 45.

I want shaft drive so no good for me, we have looked at the targa 43 but prefer the space in the ss46

Did hear about some turbo issues on early volvo engined models, think there was a mod….worth checking out, imo

ah ok will look into that as majority of the boats have the tam 75 edc engines so worth looking in to

cheers

Ah right. Thought they did late 46 ht

Not sure then you may be right but all the ones I have seen have been rag tops

I hear jD Yachts have a good one coming on the books Mk 11 I believe

I will speak to Justin as they are selling mine but I need to sell mine to be able to look at buying so not viewing any until I am sold as its pointless and just wasting peoples time

I see they have a 2008 Portofino 47 hard top is this the one you mean ??????

cheers

Don't want to start a flybridge v sportsboat argument but that statement is illogical;) With a flybridge boat you've got a lower helm position which is usually every bit as good as the single helm of a hardtop sports cruiser!

A point still worthy of a response though?;)

Ok Mike I will explain our PERSONAL reasons and this is only our feelings and I am not saying we are right or wrong it just suits us.

We feel that we spend a fair time on out boat in the marina and unless its like it is at the minute we cannot use the flybridge as its too cold up there most the time, I have owned my boat phantom 40 2004 since oct 2013 and I can count on one hand the times we have spent more than 1hr on the flybridge due to the fantastic uk climate .

When we had out previous boat a sealine s37 we spent many many hours on deck with the canopies closed but still had the outside feeling and the heater on if required in the cockpit area. We recently came back on a 30 minute cruise and I was all alone on the flybridge as everyone else was down stairs due to being cold. I have driven my boat from the lower helm but it does not give you the feeling I get from the flybrige or from driving my old sports boat.

We PERSONALLY feel we would like to go back to a sports boat style hence the post Portofino 46

cheers shawn

I get what you mean. An open boat gives you lots of "outside" space and with the covers up, feels like camping....or glamping:). Nothing better than rain on a tent roof.
