Can anyone offer any advice on superhawk 34/40?. I am currently looking at a new 40 with kad300's and wonder how it will perform/handle etc and how reliable kad300s are.

I haven't heard anything bad said about the KAD300's, but it's early days yet as they only came out last year.

Usual Volvo diesel caveats apply:
Don't over-prop
Adjust the valve clearances as specified
Change the oil/belts/filters/impellers/anodes/outdrive gaiters regularly

I had a sh34 with 2 xkad300. Only problem i had was with props which were changed under warranty by volvo. performance was superb. I have driven 34's with yanmar 300's, kad 43 and kad44, the 300's got the boat up onto the plane much quicker and performance across the range was generally better than the other engine options.

What about the new D6 option?

Handling of a sh34 was the best 37ft boat i have even drive. 25knots and you can crank it into a very sharp turn with the rails in the water. Handles like a 20ft sportsboat.

I did hear that they were having problems getting the outdrives to perform well with the extended platform, I assume that is all sorted now?

Thanks for your comments. I would have chosen D6's but were told by Sunseeker they were not as suitable as kad300s as they were to heavy I think.
How was fuel economy on your 34?
I am told they have sorted the problem with the outdrives with a longer platform.

fuel econ was great, cheaper to run than my friends petrol 25ft maraih sports cuddy.

I did 270 hours in 2002 and had no problems with the engines. I have since sold the boat and the new owner has done a further 100 hours and still no problems.

I suppose you need to trust the guys at sunseeker if they say the d6 is not the prefered option.
