Re: Sunseeker Sportsfisher 37\'
If I were emboldened by beer or rosay I might rise to that bate (sic) and question whether you were trolling (it gets worse) ... but I wouldn't be such a teaser ( no more I promise).
No , The Sportfisher ( anka as St Tropez) is not a Luhrs but then again doesn't it fit nicely into a Gulf Coast / Med / Keys niche ?
As others have said here it is more than just a fishing boat . If you had the cash ( and Someone I know has a S/seeker quote for £260 k) wouldn't you consider it as a classy day boat / sometime fisher / overnighter? As with all boats it is obviously a boat with compromises .. IMHO this one is a great mix.
However you are right , The $ has pushed the price UP for our stateside friends although sales of 70+ are surely pretty good - and the claim is you can not get one for love or money ; then again that could be 'cos they are only built to order . How many £250k boats ( try speccing it ) sell in that quantity ?
The rather surprising thing for me is the paucity of the damn things in the Med, I expect to be corrected by Mr Braithwaite's snoopers but I think thare are only 2 in private ownership currently on the Riviera. Our own RYA-approved schoolmaster (sun-coast) will undoubtedly provide accurate sightings for the Spanish minions.
If Mr Braithwaite wants to know the real reason the boat hasn't sold in the Med , he should perhaps look at his distribution network there. In my (limited) prop-kicking experience they don't want to know about this machine. Just doesn't fit their(sales people's) image , but then again I am possibly the Sunseeker sales force's biggest critic in the Med so maybe they just hate me !
Not sure why you consider it a 'wet' boat , IMHO it wasn't designed for ploughing into 3 metre waves to get at the 100-lb cod of the English channel. Nuff - Said. If My missus stays dry then it is a dry boat. I will also be very interested in what MBY think about it running "bow-up' , - I didn't think so but then again I haven't tried that many boats ( Ok , only a few more than MBY testers).
Perhaps TCM provides you with the real key to this boat's potential in the Med. He would be my ideal 'fishing partner' ;crap at fishing and wouldn't consequently dirty the boat with smelly, slimey fish. Howver then again he might invite TCM Juniors I and II and they would spoil fun by claiming incompetence and hooking up record-breaking Med Tuna.
At end of day .. don't buy one ! Someone will.
