I can second that; Robert Thompson the chef is a client of mine and having enjoyed his hospitality there a number of times I can recommend it as top notch -both the hotel and the restaurant.

Ah, a new place to eat on IoW, excellent.

We were in Yarmouth earlier in the week and ate at On the Rocks (good as ever) and also Scruffies, which was OK, but not much cheaper than the George, which is much further upmarket.

Great pics K, thanks for posting. We were on the IOW on Friday/Saturday, and happened to be travelling on to Lyme Regis on the Saturday lunchtime when we saw you coming out of Lymington (we were on the ferry).

Incidentally if you ever find yourself at a loose end for dinner on the Island, I'd recommend the Hambrough in Ventnor - very nice.

Were you on the inbound ferry? We got our timing just wrong leaving Berthon and had to follow the outbound from the dock right out into the Solent.

If you are are close behind those ferrys (son was driving, so of course I could almost touch the stern) when they vector the props you certainly get pushed around!

We even did the show off thing off drawing alongside the ferry, waving at passengers, then pushing the throttles wide open and swerving over to go east like a jet peels off from a formation (having carefully considered the rights and comfort of all other craft in the area of course).

We were. We had to hang around by the jack in the basket for about 15 mins waiting for the same ferry that you were stuck behind. Went on from Lymington to Lyme Regis, thence to deepest Zummerzet, then up past Stonehenge and finally back to Bton in time for tea. Great fun. (Bit massively off topic, sorry)

Glad to see it is getting used. When you bought it, did you think of helping cover the running costs & depreciation by chartering it out to qualified ex-owners who couldn't justify having their own?
