Sunseeker or Princess

Hi , just on another boat, I am looking to buy a Sunseeker Camargue 50 year 2001 as only have a budget for this age of boat, are these boats sound in general and what should I look out for when buying?

That’s a great choice with a certain budget .
The guardians I used to speak to , in the marina and ship yard all speak highly of the hull sea keeping .
Think they come with 12 L. inline CATs or Volvos .
They have a huge physical presence .
Nobody had a bad word for them or the other Camargue ( pre Portofino range ) Sunseeker imho were at there Zenith late 90 s .

Thank you for your thoughts, that has certainly instilled confidence in making this first step for the family on the boating ladder, it will be for long holidays and liveaboard breaks when visiting my home in Guernsey. Much appreciated.

Well, as ever, I'm reluctant to disagree with you ... but my recollection (I've only been on one once) was that you had to open the garage door to rotate the passerelle round and out; once rotated out, it could be further extended. It needs this round-and-out functionality to act as a crane to get the dinghy up and into the garage. It isn't a letterbox-style passerelle more commonly fitted to sportcruisers now. Once the passerelle has been rotated round and out of the garage, the garage door can be closed again. The key point was that the passerelle cannot be deployed or stowed without the garage door being opened.
Correct. I had a V50 for 4yrs.

There are quite a few for sale today. Before I came to my senses and bought something a bit smaller, the Camargue 50 (esp. the hardtop variant) was one of my targets. Still looks fab today. What a weapon.

Thanks again for all this great info and advice. Can you buy a hardtop for a Camargue 50 , year 2001 and if so any idea of prices and best place to go if not Sunseeker themselves? Was thinking the sliding one one but thinking could be about 10k or am I way off here?

No , all factory at manufacturer done .The soft top has nice metal frames .Its not feasible to retro a HT .
In absolute terms S/Skr will do anything, but this mid will cost nearly as much as the base boat .

Agree with Portofino.
If you want the HT then there are some for sale. The pic I posted is from this one, 2002:
2002 Sunseeker Camargue 50 Power New and Used Boats for Sale -
Under 200k

Camargue 50 is a wonderful boat - we’ve owned one for ten years and still love it. Build quality is excellent and we’ve had very few issues either mechanical or electrical. The forward cabin suffers from drooping headlining as do many boats from that time but it can be fixed.
The navigation electronics will look a bit dated now and check that things like the fridges and cockpit griddle still work.

If driven in choppy seas the 50 Camargue tend to develop hair line cracks in around the radar-arch and windshield and same but in around the hard-top version.
A problem also with Portofino 46, could be fixed, but most tend not to be fixed.
50 Camargue has a really nice balance, and for the record is better and drier without the extra 500kg of the hard-top. Possibly one of Sunseeker's better boats of the last two decades, with a close tie with Predator 62/64.
Although ride wise they get to be over rated....
For example a Fairline Targa 52 runs as good as the Sunseeker 50 Camargue.
