I have a 1989 Sunseeker Mustang. Overall the hull is in good condition but there is some slight pitting in the gel coat at the stern end. See attached pictures. I’m curious if anyone knows a) does this matter? And b) how to address this, whilst colour matching? -> Painting OR GRP flow coat which is colour matched? What’s the best approach?

If it was my boat I would wet sand it with say 800 then 1000 and machine polish , to get the scratches out, then scrub the craters out with soap and water then scrub it again with isopropyl alcohol , and get flexible plastic scraper and try fill just the craters with colour matched gelcoat , and wet sand and machine polish again then the most important part stand back 3 foot sqint a bit ,and I’m sure it will look ok

Thank you, that sounds like a perfectly decent plan! Do you have any suggestions as to what brand/type of gel coat filler you would use?

Try east coast fiberglass I’ve been using them and there a great company , they do gel cote in ral colours ,im sure they will have something that will nearly match , failing that they do a colour machining service but you will need to supply them a sample
