Doug H has It exactly right.. And belive me I know, been involved with this .

Sunseeker Sales Group is now owned out of the UK by Marina Estrella. This was anounced to all owners and berth owners about a month ago. It was hinted at SIBS and in place by LIBS
Been to the factory in Jan and due back in Feb SSG ofices curently being re branded.

JFM Make sure that you are buying your boat in at least four parts i.e Bill of sale for hull production in return for your payment, Then Bill of sale for engines etc, Then bill of sale for second fit, Final bill of sale for extras and commisioning. Factory to give a full bill of sale at the end. In this world if anybody goes bust atleast you own what you have paid for to date. You probably know all this but if not belt and braces.

GSkip, that's meaningless. Who owns Marina Estrella? :-)

Yup, thanks. But mine was a spur of the moment purchase of a stock boat, the finished SIBS boat. So just the one bill of sale and no credit risk for me except my small deposit. Fairline aint going to go bust anyhow :-)

Marina Estrella is an distributor of Sunseeker and many other brands, Cobalt etc. What I mean by SSG owned out of UK By Marina Estrella Is that Marina Estrella have taken over all SSG outlets outside the UK. Have a look on their web site.

So SSG Mallorca and Marina Estrella Mallorca Merge Same with SSG Menorca Merge with Marina Estrella Menorca and so on.

Wow, you guys really know your stuff about the new boats, but what about old ones?

What's happening with them, we're in the maket for an old speedboat and have been told it's a good time to buy (by everyone trying to sell!!)

What you think?

Looking for something about 60ft speedboat for about £60000.

Anything pop straight into your heads?

It sounds like a somewhat limited budget for a 60' speedboat (wazzat, anyway?), even if "old". You might try to make an offer on this one. Not exactly a speedboat, but not that old, either.

Nope, new to YBW as this is first boat we're buying.

Live in Nottingham, moving (hopefully to Malta)

Yeah, like Magnum. Two examples of boats within budget are boats from the Tecnomarine range, and the Baglietto 20. Two different boats I know but the Tecnomarine Cobra 60 is so lovely, we have fallen in love with one in England and we're planning to have it refitted internally etc. But we haven't put a deposit down yet, and are still open for ideas, it's a tad late posting on here about this really but we just want to make sure we're doing the right thing.
The Baglietto 20 is quite a substantial boat, but looks so dated.

OUCH! just looked at the link, seeing that for the first time in more than 3 and a half inches of water would have me in a bit of a flap!
What about the engines in the Cobra then? two Isotta Fraschini 850hp diesels.

Is the Tecnomarine this one, by chance?
A lot of boat for the money by the look of her, but hardly a real speedboat at 30kts max.
No idea about the Baglietto 20 you're talking about, but if you find one at a comparable price and decently maintained, well, that's a no brainer in terms of boat value, regardless of how dated she might look.

What do you mean by a speed boat 60' Is this a out and out speed boat or do you realy mean a motor yacht such as a Sunseeker, Fairline, Sealine.

If your new to it drop a line back with what you intend to do family use personal use. Whats important going fast or cabin and saloon space etc. From that I'm sure that you will get some good advice on here.

Dont forget to consider in your budget mooring prices and insurance , servicing etc.

Also very important where do you want to be UK or Med etc etc I have some great boats on brokerage but they are all more expensive than the budget you sugest however if your positivly looking I would check through my trade contacts for you.

A budget is fairly meaningless these days because there's such a big variation in selling prices (as opposed to asking prices). Some owners are desperate to sell and will take a very low offer whilst others are happy to hang on until the right offer comes along. If I was buying a used boat today, I think I'd start the bidding at about 60% of the asking price and move onto another boat and another until somebody bit
I know it's not 60ft but I think the Camargue 46 is worth looking at. Excellent hull and the Detroits are pretty reliable
