Sunsail spam - BEWARE

For the last 12 months I have been trying to stop Sunsail sending me their unsolicited and unwanted emails. I have used the unsubscribe link on their emails and written back to them - politely and sternly. Yet still it goes on, clogging up my mailbox.

Beware, folks, you don't want to get onto Sunsail's mailing list cos you will never get off it again. For info, the spam comes from:

Sunsail [enews@sunsail.chtah.com]

and even though I have unchecked all the boxes in their 'preference centre', still the spam keeps coming /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
 
Why not set your ISP Mailbox server to reject the mails from that address ?? Or even in your e-mail program set a delete filter for anything that comes from that address ?
 
Reply back to them with a hundred x the email address and a 5mb image attached saying stop spamming! when they finnaly download it all they may get the message.
 
Send a letter to the MD. Tell him what you think.......and forget to put a stamp on it. The Post Office will charge them extra and, although it's only a small thing, it really annoys companies when they get charged for the extra cost.

Keep sending the letters until it stops!
 
Thanks, guys, plenty of food for thought there. It is especially problematic when we are cruising in the season and download via slow links.
 
Is sunsail a UK reg company? Not sure, but if so consider making complaint under Data Protection Act.

That aside the previous suggestion made about complaint to Sunsail MD should be followed through, although I would stamp it as the Post Office throw away unstamped mail these days.

However, if its any help, your post here has know doubt put quite a few off ever giving them details.

No they don't, the recipient pays a charge if the mail is not stamped, they do not throw it away, and the charge is more than the missing postage would have been.
 
You're right. They tried to charge us for an unstamped letter a couple of weeks ago. Our guy refused to pay the extra and pointed out that there was a stamp on the envelope!!!
(Yes, really!)
 
For £2 you can download the Sunsail annual return from Companies house. This will give you the home address of the directors. I suspect that receiving letters of complaint at their homes may bring about more immediate action.

There are a few addresses here that you might like to try!

You may be able to set your system to automatically forward a copy of everything you receive from them to all those addresses.
 
'tis a tempting thought but unless I deliberately forge my outgoing address then I risk being added to yet more Sunsail lists /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif I have checked several time over the months and according to my profile with them I am not subscribed to any of their stuff but still it comes, and comes, and comes.

It seems to me that it ought to be possible not only to remove oneself from their lists but request that they remove one's details altogether. What seems to happen - and this is not just Sunsail - is that they stop for a short while then start back up again. I thought that there were new laws against this sort of thing or is that just in the USA?

Thanks to everyone for your practical suggestions and moral support (and immoral support from some quarters /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif). Wouldn't it be nice to find that I have received a PM from a Sunsail employee asking for my details so that they can put things right without a delay. I'll let you know if that happens but I am not holding my breath!
