sunday\'s boat trip

as people have already said, what a great day on Sunday, weather wise. Had just picked up a de-humidifier, so went down to the boat early afternoon.

Marina was looking so good in the winter sun.

decided to head out downstream for a short run (please excuse angle of pictures but taken on a camera phone whilst driving)

only downside to the day was SWMBO slipping over on the pontoon on the way back to the car, despite taking great care when walking. Didn't appear that the marina had made much attempt to make the pontoons safe by putting down any salt (but I could be wrong).

Re: sunday\'s boat trip

Some lovely photo's there, certainly was a gorgeous weekend. We had intended to take Oudrageous down to The Weir and stay there the night, as we had our marina lunch there. Unfortunately the alternator belt snapped due to a seized alternator on the starboard engine, so that scuppered that plan and went down on our friends boat and back to the marina that night. Stayed on board and lyinf in bed looked at the remote temperature guage showing -4.4 and looking out the window noticed that the maarina had iced over! Headed off again on our friends boat to Sunbury where we had a great lunch at the Moon in Moon for an early birthday get together for SWMBO, then back to the marina again. Things were already icing up at about 5 o'clock, so left fairly soon after getting there as the pontoons were icing up quite badly. Beautiful weekend, just a shame the boat is kaput!

Re: sunday\'s boat trip

Unlikely they would put salt down on the pontoons , it would rot the metal supports for the decking quite quickly .

Not really practical to spread salt ( or whatever ) on every pontoon , there must be hundreds of metres of them. Surely in the contract it will say that they are used at your own risk.

We have a special 'no salt' de-icer to use on the lock gate walkways because they are made of aluminium.
