Some have previously suggested that hydro power generation at weirs could be a source of funding for the Thames. However it is questionable as to whether or not any income raised from this source would actually contribute towards navigation costs.

Here, here! (or is it hear, hear) AFAIK none of the extra income accruing to the River (other than that attributed directly to boating) goes towards the running of it - it gets filtered off into "the Head Office's" coffers and some of what we pay goes that way too.

EA doesn't "do accounts" so we'll never know....
