Sunbrella maintenance/waterproofing

Hi All,

Any tips on the above? Does anyone have any alternative or better suggestions for waterproofing than the "303" recomended on Sunbrella's website which doesn't seem to be sold in this sunny corner of the Med.

The cover in question is a full cover supplied with the boat, a Mariah SX18 when new in 2006, I'm planning on a good clean, re-proof and maybe a bit of sewing around some of the loose press studs, if I can figure out which end of the needle the thread goes in

As usual, any tips advice or abuse will be gratefully received and filed as appropriate. Thanks in advance...

"Belstaff"used to do a good waterproofer for thier motorbike gear,dont know if its still available but i seem to remember it was good stuff.Just a thought.

Waterproofing

I have always used Fabsil which is normally found in any camping shop. have used it on varoius canopies, which have been made from different materials and have never had a problem

Try car accessory shop for soft top products, normally cheaper then the marine ones as well

Thanks for the suggestions folks, ISTR the Belstaff stuff was waxy, like Barbour treatment, and I've a funny feeling Sunbrella is meant to "breathe" as well as be waterproof, so maybe Fabsil would be a better bet, again I can't recall seeing it here in Spain
I like the car hood suggestion _ I'll call into Carrefour on the way to the Marina.

I'm interested too in sourcing Fabsil in Spain and looking at their distribution map they (Grangers) don't seem to have a Spanish distributor ....... opportunity for someone???

Maybe drop into a Decathlon camping store and see what equivalent they have. They seem to have outlets all over Spain.
