Sunbeam Yachts

yup ... look rather nice as a cruising yacht.... only really noticed one a few weeks ago when i seemed to follow a brand new 39 round on my travels.

I sailed the 34 on a windy Adriatic a couple of years ago. She was quicker than the average cruising boat but she is also quite heavy so not an out and out racer by any means. She handled delightfully in all respects and was particularly strong to windward in Force 6.

The interior is extremely solid and well finished with good equipment and a long inentory but the layout would not appeal to all, particularly those looking for maximum comfort on a passage which involved a lot fo windward sailing.

They are expensive new, but considering the quality and inventory, offer pretty good value compared to a Najad, Hallberg Rassy or Malo.

I don't know who will be handling the marque in the future. I'll probably find out at the Southampton Boat Show
