Thanks for all the replies. More info. We will be leaving from Dartmouth on 20 August with our first port of call Trebeurden. We will be spending about 2 weeks in the area and then drifting back.

Would you recommend Morbihan or Pornic for the longest stay within our trip?

Geof

I think I must be missing something because the Morbihan and Pornic in South Britanny on the Biscay coast are ways away from Trebeurden which is mid North Britanny coast. If you only have 2 weeks, then starting with Dartmouth to Trebeurden realistically you will have nowhere near enough time to get to the Morbihan area and back and see anywhere en route, let alone dawdle doing it. With just 2 weeks to play with you will need to press on IMHO and make some long legs on the south bound trip or you will be sailing every day and sightseeing and relaxing on none.

Ok but tell us your range on a tank full and we'll have a think. Personally I can see no advantage to going via Trebeurden, it is a diversion eastwards and it is pricey compared to other French Marinas. If you need a fuel stop then Camaret now has a new fuel berth this year with easy access and no sill/gate entry like Trebeurden, 144 mls from Dartmouth via Le Four so less than 6 hours at your speed? Next easy fuel is Benodet, around Quiberon there is Crouesty (easiest), La Trinite and Haliguen. Concarneau is OK but not at LW, Morgat is easy too.

I guess if you went Dartmouth to Camaret, then Camaret to somewhere in Quiberon Bay as 2 long trips but short in time for your speeds then you could have time to visit a few places on the return. We really need to know what you are looking for to suggest where, like do you want to anchor overnight or be in a marina, do you want towns and shops or beaches and swims? How long do you want to spend in each place?

Yes but from Dartmouth that is going sideways almost and is a pretty big diversion, the fuel price difference might be lost in the extra hours getting back west from Guernsey to Chenal Du Four IMO, plus he's short on days too anyway.

As you say plaiting sawdust, 5 replies to answer one question... maybe! Still nothing else to do.
