As summer approaches I am often seen displaying my finely honed athletic frame clad only in thong & vest. Now I am concious that as I extend my arms to perform boaty tasks (Kim please note that this is in fact a boaty thread!) that I am displaying hirsute oxters. The question is: Will people be offended or should I shave them?

Dutch rule of thumb is (note: for sailors, because this is a boaty topic): if you got titties, shave everything from nose down to toes. No titties, then you must be a ruftie-tuftie.. and they don't shave...

I have seen many shoulder-beaver beards dangling from Dutch ladies in the past.

You're showing your age here... I come from the time when razorblades and lady-shaves were common goods.... /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif Perhaps you've confused them with either the lovely specimens from either Germany or France?

I think you should go for the waxed back, sack and crack.
Speaking of boaty attire on this particularly boaty thread - someone left a blue bobble hat with one of those red ticks on the front whilst on the Chentleman's cruise. Ah've nae doot et wiz Para.

Can one still buy those rather fine terra-cotta sailing trousers that gentlemen of ageing vintage wear. I did have a pair but Dear Heart has hidden them on the grounds of indecency.

Ah widnae bother with the terra cottage troosers, Ah have it ooan ra beast authority that Peachified cotton is in this year. Think peach'll suit yer complexion and cotton'll dae the sweat rash a pile o' guid!

You'll find a dab of surgical spirit should make the tick drop off. Our poor old labarador was a martyr to ticks and surgical spirit fixed the problem every time.

If you consider that the Aussie's call flip flops "thongs" then you may be showing more than hairy armpits!!!
