Volunteer lock assistant keeps Thames flowing smoothly
Keeping the River Thames flowing smoothly is proving to be a therapeutic new challenge for a grandfather of four.
Andrew Ball is taking part in a new Environment Agency initiative which has placed volunteer assistant lock keepers along the Thames this summer.
And after eight weeks of working at Bray Lock, the 55-year-old from Buffins, Taplow, has taken to the role like the proverbial duck to water.
"You couldn't ask for a better job," he said.
Now whose boat is that in the lock in the photograph on the article? http://bit.ly/o5V7GG
