Would it not be better if the threads which get new replies remain at the top of the list, that way interesting topics don't fall off the bottom forever forgotten. The topics with fewer replies naturally fall from view. Doing it this way would reduce duplication and make good threads last longer.
A bit like MSN message boards???

Just a suggestion.

Re: uh...

...we originally launched these forums with that type of feature enabled, so that new messages pushed threads to the top. Then we got a thread just like this one, save for the fact that views were opposite, saying wouldn't it be better to see the threads in date order according to original post date. Changed the system accordingly. It's a two second job to revert but I suspect there's some people out there that don't want it.

Got a mild headache this afternoon (not the first teaser of the day). Where do we go from here?

Re: uh...2 forums then!

I suppose we should then split the boating fraternity down the middle again - one forum each for the posted date and one for the responded to date. We can then have arguments over who makes the most wash and pinches all the best mooring spots!!

Re: uh...

Couldn't we select the order in personal preferences?

The rest of the options are very impressive!

Re: conservative vote

I thin leave it as it is. The threads are in date order, with the unused ones ditched, but still their original order, so that thread x is always beneath thread y.

Nonetheless, no news about my requesty for internal response to be slightly resequenced? Hmm?

There again, this entire thread shouldn't be here at all , and indeed er oops my desk has automatically moved to the attic cos I haven't used it for a while

The old way was best

I think putting the first reply at the top and subsequent ones after, ensures that the poor first one to reply, at least is always seen and thus not duplicated or forgotten. Quite often, there is a long delay until that first one comes in, then a torrent, with the thread sometimes changing, to the point where the original reply is irrelevant.
No, I for one would like a change.

Re: not bothered really

I find this BB is working really well now. I wd have slight pref for "most recently updated at top" but I dont care that much because using the "udated in last 2 days" or whatever eliminates the old stuff. Also Matts, you must have some settings wrong, you can have the view you want, see my post to your complaint on the forum BB
