Well looks like you better stay there, take some pix and report back, what ever his songs were he either sold a lot or managed himself (i.e. no dodgy manager!) to be able to afford that...

Its definitely the tudor pile opposite the 24hr mooring at Wargrave with a little dayboat called MemSahib.
Never seen him in the last 32years of going past there though.
Seen Rolf and Parky a few times down at Bray though. Rolf always waves.

Another google using one of my perverse keyword approaches produced THIS in which it says:
"Neighbour and veteran singer Vince Hill, who also tried to fight the flames before firemen arrived, said: "Nick and Marie are fairly new to the area but we have met them a couple of times. I cannot imagine how they are feeling. It is so sad, so so sad."

Interesting recommendations.
I'd go Medmenham and walk up to the pub in the village for Dinner.
Windsor Brocas - shallow
Windsor town side - make sure you drop anchor (hooligans)
Cookham - nice
Henley - nice
The Bounty (opp Bourne End) I thought was the pits last visit

Vince has lived there since the 60s (I think) so when he bought the house it cost a lot less ( probably paid about £30,000). Bearing in mind he was then at the top of his tree and really earning, he would have paid it easily. Adam Faith paid exactly that for his superb house backing on to Sunningdale Golf Course in 1964.

The Remenham moorings should also be OK this weekend, and virtually all of the piled bank has good depth.

About 0.75 miles above Hambleden Lock, on Berkshire (port) bank, there starts made up piled moorings, first section with timber posts in the bank you can tie up with. This continues past Temple Island, up past Remenham Church, up to the Upper Thames rowing club.
The first section up to the bottom end of Temple Island has good depth, I should imagine 4' would be no problem. These moorings are usually available at all times apart from the Regatta week (ie next Wednesday to Sunday), during the Womens Regatta (last weekend just gone, EA warn you not to use but Steve the moorings man says you can use), and when any club/Rally booked in. In the main good moorings almost always available. I drop my anchor here just in case, as close to weir and on a public footpath.
The town is about 20-30 min walk, and the Flowerpot Pub at Aston about 20 mins walk.

Just back. Spent the night at Wargrave as discussed right across from Vince's place. Even saw Mem Sahib on that stretch of the river. Dinner at the St George and Dragon was a chaotic affair - the staff seemed pretty overwhelmed with what appeared to be a fairly normal evening. Kids loved the ride to the restaurant in the tender.
Great suggestion for a mooring - very quiet and calm. And the moorings closer to Wargrave also don't have houses overlooking them.
