Suggestion for overnight trip from Marlow

So, does this mean it really isn't an option even with a 3ft draft? I was thinking that might make a nice overnight trip.

Actually, with 3 feet draft you will probably be ok and the bottom is fairly soft stuff I think. I used to stop there with each of two previous boats with that sort of draft.

A good trick is to head the bow in to the bank and then let the stern come in slowly with engine in neutral, if you touch bottom you can always sod off again.

Mind you, the Lockie at New Romney has been known to let the level in that stretch drop below normal. I have gone to sleep afloat and woken up aground more than once ! /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Was on the Brocas near the trees towards the boathouses, the space i'd very rarely moor at but managed to get in ok. You get hoards of Polish drinking and generally making too much eastern European din there.
But on the Sunday it was that Triathlon and was surprised just how shallow it was even towards the middle of the river. Alot were walking rather than swimming and only up to their knees in places

Nobody's mentioned the EA moorings at Wargrave, opposite the rich and anonymous. No rings but lovely oak bollards. A bit overgrown overhead but usable.

Go upstream from Marsh lock until you hit the islands. First patch on LHS is clear of trees but you'll need stakes.

Go past the islands and the EA moorings are under the trees and easy to miss.

Beats Windsor and all that noise.

Yeah, but whever I stopped there overnight one of the houses opposite had an external telephone bell that seemed to ring incessantly /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

A nice spot, but the kids may be a bit trapped because there is only a narrow bit of towpath there.

The mooring is on the Wargrave side, Vince Hill's (old, I thought he'd moved?) house is opposite on the Shiplake side. There is also some nice moorings beforehand just upstream of the Hennerton Backwater entry. (although not all will take a 3' 6" draft).

I prefer Medmenham, particularly if the kids/dogs need some space. The Remenham moorings should also be OK this weekend, and virtually all of the piled bank has good depth.

I assume Lady Gay is coming to the Trad Rally?

Can you be any more specific about depths along the Remenham stretch? I fell foul of shallows up nearer Henley Bridge by the festival site and Oldgit had to pull me out again - never tires of rubbing my nose in it.

His 'big hit' was Eidelweiss in 1967.

Theres a rather strange website called www.retiredandliving.co.uk from which this:
".........said Vince whose success has brought him comfort and happiness on “Celebrity Mile” by the River Thames where he has as neighbours chat show host, Michael Parkinson and his good friend Rolf Harris."

So yep, I would agree he's on the Bray Bonanza stretch below Maidenhead.
