Ship Blaxall, as previously described on this forum. If you walk up from Iken via the footpaths the going through Blaxall common is very hard, about 12" of soft sand and a long drag uphill. Not for a hot day.
Also worth knowing that this pub closes completely Mon and Tue, is open evenings only Wed to Fri and normal hours over the weekiend. Certainly looks a really nice pub, (we went on a Tuesday)

Bell and Steelyard in Woodbridge just changed hands, has a much simplified menu compared with the last which was excellent.

Kings Head and Cherrytree without doubt best reasonably priced food and beer in Woodbridge. Cherry tree has internet access.

Ramsholt Arms, Sorrel Horse Shottisham and Swan Alderton all good as ever.

Cheers

I think that there are 2 Cherry tree pubs in/very near Woodbridge and I've heard both are good, which one are you referring to (north or south of tidemill)? The one north is slightly further out and may perhaps not come under Woodbridge but I don't know.

Re: cherry tree

out of the Tidemill, turn left and keep walking past the anchor on right then swimming pool on left, about a 10 min walk, still well in Woodbridge though.

Alternatively

walk along the sea wall as far as Eversons, turn inland at that point, cross the railway line, keep along Kingston Road (as it is called) as far as Cumberland Street and turn left.

Agree excellent pub (its my local!)

Apologies!

For sending you off to the Ship at Blaxhall without warning you of Hys' eccentric opening hours!

He also "officially" dislikes children, but sailing children are, in my experience, allowed in.

Re: Apologies!

Whatever you do, forget any idea of eating in the King's Head. Horrid and expensive.
Food at Bell and Steelyard good. And yes, the Cherry Tree (opposite Notcutt's is another way to describe it) is good. No decent fish and chip shops in Woodbridge though. Best around is in Melton, but still rubbish.
