Hi all,

I own a 2012 Princess P42, MK4 version, and I’ve located the CIN/HIN on the transom – under the swim platform, just as expected.

Unfortunately, the number on mine is damaged and unreadable, and I need to provide a clear photo of it for vessel registration in Norway (NOR register).

Does anyone with the same model (P42 MK4, around 2011–2013) happen to have a clear photo of the original factory CIN/HIN plate? Or at least can confirm exactly how and where it is engraved – dimensions, plate type, location details, etc.?

The Norwegian registry requires photo documentation showing the CIN number on the hull, and the current one on my boat is too corroded to read.

Any help would be deeply appreciated – even just a reference photo or tip from someone with the same boat!

Best regards,

Trond Olstad

Do you have the original sales document or certificate? This will show the HIN.

I'm not sure but I think his aim here is not simply to find out the HIN.

I think his aim is to get a new plate manufactured, in the original Princess style, to replace the corroded one. So he wants a photo of another boat to see what the plate should look like.

I think that is what he is asking but I might be wrong

Hi Trond. Both the Norwegian and Swedish Princess dealers have late-year Princess 42s for sale. If the boats are located at the dealers’ premises, I’m almost certain they would be willing to help you out with photos. Links below:

99% certain that the HIN on the bathing platform isn't a plate, it's just etched into the gelcoat, so can't corrode.

To answer the OP, there will be a second HIN engraved onto a plate inside the boat somewhere. They are usually hidden, but you could ask Princess Yachts where it is.

I'm intrigued by your description of it being a MK4. The Princess 42 production started in 2003 and there was a mild and largely cosmetic update in 2010 I think (might have been 2009) which is a MK2 (radar arch, saloon window line, small changes to the interior woodwork). But never a MK4...

The V42 went through MK1, 2 and 3, but again, never a MK4.

Thank you for answering... I have Hin number... but it is damage, last number... Need a photo that shows complete HIN - for registration in NOR-
This is unclear.

1.Are you just trying to find the last digit of the HIN? It will be the same or +1 as the 3rd-from-last digit.

2.Or are you asking for help in designing a new HIN plate so that you can make it then get a photograph of it?

They are different questions.

As noted above, there will be a second HIN number somewhere, eg in the base of a wardrobe.
