Initially they turned down the contract because they are already at full capacity.

However they have worked out how to use subcontractors eg in Poland to build subsections for assembly at St Nazaire.

Gosh. That should keep them busy for the foreseeable future. :)
They recently delivered Symphony of the Seas, which is now the largest cruise ship in the world - 228,000 gross tonnes. And they also built Queen Mary 2.

Same as how there are the 'Big 3' powerboat builders in the UK (re Sunseeker, Fairline and Princess), the global large cruise ship market seems to be now dominated by the Big 3 in this field - STX, Fincantieri in Italy, and Meyer Werft in Germany.

STX - http://stxfrance.fr/en/bu-ships/passenger-ships/

Fincantieri - https://www.fincantieri.com/en/

Meyer Werft - https://www.meyerwerft.de/en/meyerwerft_de/index.jsp

I was reading on the Meyer website that they also sub-contract out modules of their large passenger ships to other shipyards - these modules are then delivered by barge to the main assembly hall.
