I have a locker full of valve adaptors but none that seem to fit this valve

Anyone got any idea what valve adaptor fits this valve. The RIB is made by Sur Marine of Italy

Take the cap off and head to the chandlers

It is a bayonet fitting. You need to take the cap as they come in about 4 sizes

It will come with one rubber seal. Whilst you are there buy another as mine like that needs 2 seals to seal it and allow the bayonet to snap into place

Mike, is there a foot pump which came with the rib? If yes, this will have the right adapter. It looks identical to the valve on my Ribeye.

As the lads have said that's a fairly bog standard and common rib valve. The pump that came with the rib should have the bayonet fitting, if not easy to get in any chandlers.

The trouble is that whilst I still have the pump that came with the RIB, the pipe and valve adaptor attached to it seems to have gone walkabout (as have a few other things on the boat but thats another story). I have various other types of plain and bayonet fittings on board but none that seem to match the valve on the RIB

Can somebody just confirm this point. With a bayonet type adaptor is it correct that it should lock into position without being held in position? How does the air actually get into the tube (I did say this was a stupid question!)

Btw thanks for all other replies. Much appreciated as ever

Mike,

The pump adaptor will look a lot like your plug that goes back into the inflating valve, wrt the bayonet fitting. On mine there is a cross piece which depresses the green centre valve reed to allow air in and out if the tube from my pump to my tender isn’t attached to my pump.

Take the picture you have to the nearest chandlers and they should have something. The valves are pretty much a universal fitting from my experience of own a whole two different types of tender and is interchangeable with my paddle board.

Try a google search for halkey roberts valve.

Ah OK thanks. None of the adaptors I've got have that cross piece

I,ll have a go .
Pete yours will not open the valve ,it has not got anything ( like a cross pieces mentioned by Shane ^^ ) to push the valve open against the spring .
In this pic the valve head is yellow and you can see the return / closing spring under it .

The spring closes it when you remove the proper adapter.
This stops air rushing out .You just then fit the dust caps .

Having said that to let down something ing like a SUP you push the spring valve in ,rotate 90 degrees and it stays open .

Obviously not an issue with a rib .
