I've just bought myself 4 new fendors. On getting them to the boat, I discovered a stainles steel hollow pin taped to each on. Examination of the fendors revealed what looks like a capped valve in each one.

Is this some means of controlling the internal pressure, and if so how do I calculate what it should be?

sounds like the inflation device that you connect to a bike pump when more air is needed in the fenders, But dont pump them up bar tight as you will damage them they need to be able to expand in really hot weather, and also have some sponginess to absorb the shocks.

Space hopper disaster

I blew up one of my space hopper fenders by leaving it in the sun after pumping it up. Scared the s**t out of the ducks as it wooshed off.

Hi Peter,

I've been after some genuinely re-inflatable fenders 'cos the ones we have are too soft. We've tried inflating them and screwing the threaded plastic plug back in quickly, but they won't hold the air in for very long, even where we've tried smearing with some mastic in desperation.

Would appreciate knowing what make those you've bought are and where you bought them.

Cheers Jerry
