Apparently a small hole at the other end is needed into which one inserts a joint . ?

Lomo dry bags are excellent value. There's a big range. I'll pass on some advice I received about them - don't be put off by the low price.

+1. We use the larger (and a massive one) for the same purposes.

Another vote for Lomo dry bags. 5 years and counting. Last far far longer than the vacuum plastic bags.

Our Dahon bikes were stolen in Amsterdam many years ago. Their bags which we had on board, are ideal.

I am fed up with sleeping bags, so I will buy a synthetic duvet instead. Any suggestions where I can get a largeish stuff sack to tidy it away?

The IKEA "Strandmolke" duvet I recently bought came in a cotton stuff sack. The duvets in Portuguese IKEAs are a different specification from British ones though, so yours may not be the same.

Lightweight, most with drape and feel not dissimilar to a sleeping bag fabric.

We keep bedding in a variety of dry bags. The best are clear plastic ones as it makes recognising which duvet is which easier. Also use them for storing clothes, books, towels, and the like. Tie on labels to record what where for the no transparent ones.

A waterproof tote bag is great for transporting to and from the boat, especially in a dinghy, but I wouldn't want to use one on a regular basis. If you need them, the Lidl ones are way cheaper than the proper "marine" ones and we had some for years.

Bedding accumulates moisture overnight and needs to be able to air, or it'll go manky pretty quickly. A breathable fabric is, IMHO, essential, but better is to pile all the bedding in the V berth and shut the door on it

My aft cabin has a custom shaped pocket sprung mattress (with memory foam topping),. Sheets, duvet and duvet cover are tailored for the mattress. One has to have some standards.
