Studland - The Seahorse lovers are winning

The crux of the matter is for years Studland has been one of the most visited anchorages on the south coast in the summer, yet the sea horses have managed to establish themselves there in abundance, doesn’t that tell anyone anything.
========================================

Come on, give them some sympathy, that correlation is far too logical.

Lets throw lots of money at it first!

I'm a bit worried now as I was recently reading the Yealm Estuary Management Plan Consultation....which mentioned important eel grass beds in Cellars Bay but I didn't then realise the significance. I have now just done a quick Google search only to find the Harbour Authority is considering mooring (sic) controls there!

It would appear that even the latest information on the Studland sea horse situation is inconclusive.
I suspect that most people wishing to anchor would be sympathetic to the sea horse lovers if independant data proved conclusively that anchors were doing harm to their cause.
In a World where more of our preciously beautiful environment is being built upon and/or abused, at least give them a chance to prove their case by an area of trial.
I was hoping to anchor in Studland Bay recently but chose not to as I feel we should give them the benefit of doubt for the present.
But, I agree with others, conclusive independent confirmation is vital.

At least they are listening now to comments from all sides not just one emotional one on telly. A proper independent survey done with an open mind would be welcomed, but I wouldn't 'not' anchor there in the meantime because that might actually be detrimental to the seahorse population growing! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
