Visited Buckie Fishing Heritage Centre (FHC) in June. I was retracing some very old footsteps. My last time in Buckie was on the Scott in 1974, when I was working on the ship as "Second Expeditions Officer".
Talking to the volunteers at the FHC we came round to the conversion of the ship at Buckie in 1977, when it became the RNOV Shabab Oman. What had happened to the figurehead, a bust of Captain Scott? Rumour was that it had gone to a Fife school as an inspirational object.
Does anyone know where the figurehead is now located?
