Strong winds are causing havoc in Portsmouth today. Boat Care UK were forced to evacuate the ninth floor offices in Hampshire Terrace this morning after double glazed windows were blown out and crashed to the ground floor car park. A cleaner was "almost sucked out" as the lift doors opened.

Roads are closed and ferries are cancelled as winds reach Force 10. This morning troubled islanders from the Isle of Wight were "left floating" in the harbour entrance as conditions were "too dangerous to dock".

Some reports say that conditions are set to worsen before they improve.

Blowing in excess of 60 knots here in Dublin. The bay is almost completely white and visibility is reduced due to spray. So glad that (A) it's not a NE'ly and (B) we have docksafe on the berth. (plus C. we're in the water and not up on a cradle, a forty odd footer was blown off her cradle in a local club yard last weekend /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif )

Stangely today is one of the few days in the last couple of weeks in central Scotland when the wind has been less than F5! It is snowing though! We seem to be in the center of the low, pressure 969 and falling! 90mph at The Needles this morning sounded exciting, hold on to your hats down there.

Cindersailor - quite agree.

Not a breath of wind here - 35 miles S of Edinburgh. Woke up to thin layer of snow. All gone now and bright & sunny. Chilly though - thermals on and think I'll go off for a stroll!!

Cheers.

Bramblemet has recorded gusts to 52 knots. The Solent looks like a witches cauldron from Lee sea front and if anyone has lost a rather nice galvanised bucket one just landed in my front garden! How windy does it have to get to lift a galvanised bucket over a 4 ft wall......?

You'd better hurry up and bring HMS Victory down to Guzz, then, and close your Dockyard!

Right you, outside, now!

You can stand in the cold, on your tod:-)

Bus journey in this morning was nearly "in the newspaper" crossing Bedhampton flyover.
