I have just started restoring a Wivenhoe One Design which is basically a 15 ft clinker built sailing boat.

I want to strip off all of the paint both inside and out but I'm not sure of the best approach.

Some have said to me 'get it acid dipped'
Some have suggested sandblasting
Some have suggested a hot air gun.

Any suggestions as to the best suggested approach.

Thanks in advance.

I like the removall product, as it is a paint stripper that gets neutralised by water. worked well on TCM's small mobo.

Start with a hot air gun to remove as much as possible, then use paint stripper to remove the difficult bits……… be careful with stripper not only on the wood but on yourself. Always have a bucket of cold water available and use gloves and eye protection, you will be surprised at where it gets whilst you are working with it?? Wash down the wood fully once the paint is removed.
When you get around to sanding use the best tools you can afford, cheap sanders don’t last when you use them on this type of project!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! /forums/images/icons/smile.gif
Now ask about what paint to use, thats always a good debate/forums/images/icons/wink.gif

Thanks for both of the suggestions so far. I suppose I just want a 'quick fix' and acid dipping does seem attractive from this perspective.

Always a worry about damaging the wood though.

Looks like a back breaking autumn ahead of me!

Thanks
