Strippers on the sand

I want to fit a Stripper on my prop shaft but I have a lift keel yacht on a drying mooring on sand. Does anyone have any experience of using a Stripper in such circumstances? Am concerned at the sand causing rapid wear of the spacer washer since the lower part of the prop blades are invariably in the sand when dried out.

Not a major problem as you do not run the prop in sand. However running in sandy water is a potential cause of wear, and regular checking would be good.

Just noticed you have a Southerly - must be one of the very few that is not fitted with a Stripper already - which tells you something!

I know two other Southerlies and neither of them have a Stripper. However, the prop on a Southerly is quite protected but there are loads of pots and other debris round here. I don't like my Proptector hence thinking of a Stripper.
