Strange stern thruster issue

Have a strange stern thruster issue.

Have Max Power bow and stern thrusters. Both work fine from lower helm however, when the stern thruster is switched on at the joystick, the buzzer keeps running very quietly.

On the Flybridge, the bow thruster is ok but the stern thruster doesn’t work. Have switched the connector blocks and both joysticks work fine and both getting same voltage therefore I think I can assume that both flybridge controllers are ok.

Took cover off stern thruster and when lower helm is used all is fine - solenoids stay open and motor runs in both directions. When upper helm is used, solenoids click on and off continuously and motor doesn’t run.

Batteries seem ok - reading 27 or so volts.

Now stuck for ideas - any kind person have any?

Measuring voltage on its own isn't enough.
What does the voltage drop to when the solenoids click?
Are you sure that the batteries are good - how old are they?

Good question - not measured voltage when solenoids click…yet! ?

Batteries are 3 years old - loads of power when using lower helm - so, in my naivety, assume they should be ok! Would it be possible that they work differently from each position? Also, is the continuous buzzing an alarm do you know?
