You do tie a line from the motor to something like a winch or cleat when lifting the motor off don't you?!! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Yes, I always tie off to a cleat. Though this time I may use a longer rope & use the bu**er as an anchor.
Outboard position is awkward for lifting off and cannot use a winch, just manpower. Takes pieces out of the gelcoat on every lift.
That's why I hoped I could solve this in situ as this will be the third time I have had to lift it off this month. Also interferes with sailing plans if outboard is off being repaired, and that's just not on!
