As a clue,a colloqualism to infer that someone is mad entered the language due to the location of an asylum close nearbye.

Mr Fanner is NOT allowed to give the game away and no it is not the North Sea in the salty bit just past Teddington Lock. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

If I have it right the railway is well hidden by the greenary but it may be far enough back from the river at that point.
The bridge just above the next lock is tight for the barge.
and there is one of the few new overnight mooings on the river nearby, well he was tring to get it up and running last year

"one of the few new overnight mooings on the river nearby"

We stopped there for the first time on Sunday night, over 2m of water right up to the bank.
Showers etc included in price and Tickled Trout at top of hilll.
Just about the only legit place to stop twixt Maidstone and Yalding.
How far up can you get with your vessel.

It's a side stream of the Orinoco called Mesquila River. Just around the corner there's an old dude in a mud hut who sells a potent drink made out of fermented Pineapples.

What have I won for getting it right?

We have only been as far as Yalding due to running out of time. That may change in September depends if the weather is good enough for us to get down there.
I belive that we have yet to do the best bit of the river!

OK, you have got me there, can't think of the expression atm:-)

Jedi will never make Tonbridge, Cannon Lane bridge is a no no. A previous owner had a Yalding homeport but I suspect thta involves cunning and courage at both Aylesford and East Farleigh.

Oh that Culham Lock Cut was as wide as that! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I think Oldgit has already said its between Maidstone and Yalding on the Medway, we were just joking a bit /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Your completely Reading, no doesn't work, "barmey" does though /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I suspect you are alluding to East Balming (hence 'barmy') although this is likely to be urban myth. Also, Bedlam was the mental hospital.....interesting history HERE .

Anyway, your pic is therefore likely to be on the upper reaches of the Medway near East Balming.

Please send Magnum of Billonger or eqivalent value etc etc.

Barming. nr Maidstone Kent.

Barmy.[-mier, -miest] Slang insane [originally, full of barm, frothing, excited] Kent

Also County Asylum
Barming Heath, near Maidstone
Opened 1.1.1833 according to the 1844 Report. Site may have been
chosen in 1828.
The term "barmy" (crazy) dates back to the 16th century, and was not
derived from this asylum.
