First this amazing sunset

Then these broke away from it.is that rain falling from the cloud

Very pretty. I call them "jellyfish" clouds. They are certainly precipitation.

Have a look for The Cloud Spotters' Guide, which is a good read and has quite a bit of technical explanation. For example, I had never worked out that cirrus are also precipitation clouds too. There is also a website.
