I wired up my newly acquired Suzuki DF50 today and to save time I simply used the harness from my existing Suzuki DF30 control box, which was already fitted to the boat. The DF50 started first time and it runs really well (on the back of the boat on a trailer in my garden running in a tank of water) but I have an odd problem...the control box keeps emitting a single beep every 6-10 seconds or so (estimated) whilst the engine is running. It stops when I turn the ignition key to the off position and stop the engine...Is it because I am using the DF30 harness to run the DF50? Would swapping to the DF50 harness and control box stop the problem? I would prefer not to have to swap the control box and harness over but it its the only way to stop the beep I guess I will have no choice.

A trapped mouse?

Seriously, I'd guess your assumption is probably correct, but would prefer (in your position) to rely on advice from Suzuki rather than that from this website.

Presumably with the old motor there was a beeper warning for anything not right with the engine. (charge oil pressure or temp) Presumably this is what is making the noise now and it is either indicating something is not right ie a fault condition or there is a variation in the wiring that eroneously indicates a fault condition. So assuming all is OK with the new engine then you will need wiring diagrams to compare the 2 wiring systems.
Or you might benefit by making up a wiring buzzer. ie a battery and a buzzer (or use a multimeter with continuity tester) to compare the 2 harnesses.Pin to pin of the connectors. It might become apparent what is different if anything. good luck olewill

I would temporally connect the wiring harness from the 50hp to see if I still had the fault. You dont have to fit it put connect up loose. If you still get the beep it could be the service warning that most Suzuki's have.If that is the case ,switch on the ignition and take out the kill cord black plastic key 4 or 5 time quickly. This should silence the buzzer.

Hope that helps

Thanks. I swapped over to the DF50 control box today but it was still doing it. I phoned a technician at a Suzuki dealer to see if he could help and he said something very similar to your advice above...Take the kill cord key out, turn the ignition on and pull the red switch out three times then turn the ignition off, which should reset it...It didn't.
The engine did seem to be running very rough (which is why I had got it so cheap on ebay (£1320, including two fuel tanks and a brand new Suzuki rev counter and trim guage) so I decided to unplug each injector in turn to see if it was that. Unplugged the bottom one and the engine cut out. Started it again and unplugged the middle one, again the engine cut out. Started it again and went to unplug the top one when I noticed one of the wires had broken off the connector plug! I pushed it back into the plug and the engine immediately ran very smoothly and the beeping stopped! The beeping was obviously a warning that something on the engine wasn't working correctly. I refitted the wire more permanently afterwards and all is well. Thanks for all your help.
