I have just installed a new engine and have run the outlet piddle pipe from the anti siphon bend to the cockpit so that I can see that water is running instead of having to look over the side where it was run to.
When I start the engine I now get a puff of exhaust out of the piddle pipe then followed by water I have never been aware a of this before because the outlet was over the side, I can't see any problem with this as the whole purpose of the anti siphon is to make sure there is no water in the cooling water pipe where it goes into the exhaust elbo and the instant the engine fires the water pump takes a second to get water circulating so the exhaust will back up into the raw water pipe and out of the piddle pipe.
My question is does anybody else get this?
Regards Mike.
