Straining rides

Another 23 hard ones this evening. Legs still tired from Sundays ride, so it was quite hard going. Will do a short ride tomorrow, the have a couple of days to rest the legs, before a longer one at the weekend.

are you me?

21 miles yesterday evening - 10 of them on a TT - can't get much harder! ;) Easy ride today - just to work and back - and a long ride on sunday with the club :)

I did 17 this evening, again, legs went at about 15. However that is 70 odd miles in 3 rides since Sunday. A bit disturbing that I have to do that in one session in June. Gulp. However, progress is generally positive. Back started to ache right at the end of the ride, a gain of 20 mins over where I was a couple of weeks ago. I think this is a mix of more miles, physio, and the new bike. No more now till Sunday, as we will be on Rafiki for the next few days. Can't wait!!

fast 40 miler this evening.... got my TT bike out... rode the first 15 miles way too fast (averaged 22mph!!!) so completely blew up at 35 miles and last 5 were a bit hellish!

Only set out to do 15 miles.... after 15 felt good, so thought i'd try a new route and extend it a bit, and then got horribly lost and ended up doing 41 miles... :D

Just planned a meger 30 miler for tomorrow morning.

This is gonna sound odd but really struggling with my left hand / wrist. After around 20 miles I loose all feeling, can't change gear and grip is very difficult. I try to change hand position a lot on rides but doesn't make much difference. I'm hoping more rides will increase strength but any tips?

42 miles today in the Fueterventura heat and wind... lots of cold larger at the end of the ride. Really enjoyed it. The bike ride wasn't bad either ;)

This is not as unusual as you might think. I have found it best to keep changing my hand position. Not currently a problem for me as I think I have ridden through this now, so it should get better H.

Glad it's not just me...
I have turned in the brake lever on the handlebars so my hand sits more naturally, it has helped and moving my grip around also helps. Seems to improve the more distance I put on the bike.
Sitting up straight going downhill takes all the weight off my wrists and hands and while it slows me down I would rather be comfortable than 3 mile a hour faster!

Starting to feel a bit more confident, still a lot of work to do and for some reason I can't seem to loose any weight at all. Dragging a 10th of a tonne around is bl00dy hard work!

Miles on the bike before the event will see you through, and you are doing all the right things. Yes, the spare pounds are hardly dropping off me, despite consuming 700-800 cals per hour on the bike. I had hoped to not carry the additional 5 kgs down to OV, but it starting to look like they are going to make the trip :D

Really pissed off yesterday. Set out on a 32 mile route, felt great for first 10 miles, then water bottle cage broke somewhere so lost my drink,

22 miles in and feeling great and front wheel felt odd, puncture, didn't have any tools with me (schoolboy error) very gingerly cut the ride short as was a few miles from home. Right pedal felt odd and realised the cleats had come loose and was missing one of three bolts and spacer plate.

Got some repairs today but priorities, the boat needs cleaning and polishing first! Got a bit dirty bouncing over to cowes yesterday!!
