We plan a day out saturday (along with everyone else if wx is as advertised!) Thought we might anchor in the Stour somewhere, dink in, take a stroll to a pub.

Need advice:

Can one walk straight north from Erwarton Ness up the track to Erwarton or do you have to go one of the longer ways round? (Like along the sea wall E or W then in)

What about tucking just in to Holbrook bay, anchoring, dinking into the creek and walking up to Holbrook?

or

Wrabness stone point and Bradfield?

Which is best?

Strictly speaking this is not a public right of way, so you should go the long way round, however you might get away with it.

No pub any more at Wrabness but we've never had any problem walking straight up the track from Erwarton bay.Good walk also from Erwarton bay to Shotley, either the Rose or Bristol Arms.Bakers Arms at Harkstead was open last summer so must have closed since.Pity.

There is a public right of way up from Erwarton Bay by Waterhouse creek, and another one at Rose Farm Cottages, but the track from Erwarton Ness is, as I said above, not a PRoW.

Neither PRoW is suitable except at HW as there are extensive drying mud flats.

Another alternative, go further up river and anchor off Stutton Ness. There is deep water reasonably close inshore, nice walk up to the King's Head at Stutton. It is a fair way though.
