This pic was taken on a delivery I had been asked to do for the people I normally work for, it was to take a S37 from lymington to St Catherine's on the Thames.

Nice run.

But they had asked me deliver a boat to Brighton on the same day as well!that morning
Now I am good but not that good!!!!!!!!!
, so after some sweet talking to my dear father [ he has the right tickets for it]and HWMBOS, [ I will point out it did not take much] I got them to pick the boat up from Lymington for me and meet me at Brighton, then we would Carry on to London.
So far so good,

I got to Brighton about 10ish, fast little boat she was, and waited for them, they arrived about 1ish, By this time I needed my caffeine intake toped up, and so did they, but all the boat had on it was about 200 paper plates and some plastic cups, there was not even an empty gas cylinder on her, [ had coffee making things,] So after some sweet talking to the Lovely harbour master at Brighton, Returned to boat with kettle full of boiling water to make coffee to revive the crew.
Well I like to try and call them that but you know what family's are like.!!!!!!!!!

So off we set,

This Photo was taken on the way to dover just before you get to the bit where that ship sank with one of my Friends cars on.[ the new ones]

Well being a girl guild for a year or so something must have sunk in as I tend to be well prepared on trips like this. bags of stuff.
Any way back to tale.
We set off along the coast, GPS set up on helm arrow pointing way, We had the tide with us, so where stumping averaging about 22 knots.
well we got to What I knew to be Dover but had not covered the miles to there on the log, so I say "right turn please here we are going in the Western entrance". Simple enough instruction you would think, well I thought so, left hand down, 90* turn and radio up Dover for permission to enter westen entrance, had even written down the Boats name,
Or so I thought!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But that was before family got involved,
I had done the passage planning,
So expected Dover to be there, they had not been to Dover before,

Well I had a full blown argument at this comment.
Can you just imagine it,
"Thats not Dover"
" yes it is""
"Have not gone far enough"
"Yes we have"
etc etc etc

Any way to cut a long argument short I dived down to cabin, dug in my bags to find my favourite book for this type of thing, as you all know, I love pic, even up or down hill ones, and the book is
"Shell pilot book" as it has pic of the harbourers and showed them
" look Castle"
" look wall"
" they answer radio as Dover control" [that another story /forums/images/icons/wink.gif
So

They turn left!!!!!!!!!!!!!

4 morals to this tale.
1. don't see how much wine is left in the wine box.
2. Don't mix work and family.
3. involve all in planning prep
4 It will come back to me in a min /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

Hope you enjoyed this tale.

Your Julie
