In that case, how about a Catalac? 27 feet, but plenty of space, and they stay level. Sure, you'll miss the wet beats to windward - that's what the engines are for, but they go nicely when the wind's cooperating, and plenty have crossed the Atlantic, so no worries in bad weather.

A bit older than the OP wanted but condition looks good and build quality from Parker was high. Got to be one of the best sailing yachts that can dry out: PSSA > For Sale > Parker 325/335 > Lucky Devil, £45,000

One reason for selling my last boat was that it was getting to the age where it needed work ( made in 96) and I am no longer up to more than washing and polishing. So my thought was something built post 2000 maybe even post 2010 that wont need work. Price isnt an issue though obviously as low as I can get away with.

If you want low maintenance a 20 year old boat such as you mention as as I have requires a shed load of work. Even 10 years old does too. Get a new Southerly 33. You can’t take it with you. It may be 5 years before it starts to fall apart and then will do so at nothing like the rate of an old tub.

Have you considered a bilge keel hunter legend ? Not everyone’s taste maybe but for length plenty of room below and more recent offering some of which were Uk built for a time.

Thanks. All my boats so far have been british but since our industry shut down effectively at the end of the millenium I need to think furrin! Trouble is I dont know which maker manufactured 30ft boats that could dry out. You have given me 2 - are there more?

Have a look at the French RM yachts. RM 890+ EN
I have sailed my brother in law’s 890, twin keel, so dries out comfortably, modern lines and a really fast boat. As far as fun sailing is concerned, most certainly not a step down from a Starlight. In style, it is far removed from your typical British yacht, so it might be a bit of an acquired taste
