The oven knob on my plastimo cooker turns smoothly before lighting the oven but after using the oven it becomes very tight and feels as if it will break when forced into the off position. Why should this be. Is it something to do with the flame failure device? Any ideas

Mine did this recently, due to salt water coming in the light above the cooker! Admittedly it was stiff before lighting but maybe yours is stiffening after getting warm? WD-40 sorted mine.

WD40 is only a temporary solution, because it is primarily a freeing agent not a long term lubricant. So Free it off with WD40, but then apply something to keep it free.

3 in 1 just goes on and on doesn't it. I think it must have been invented when God was a boy.

Had the same problem, reported it to Plastimo service and they had the manufacturer send an engineer to fix it - well I hope it is fixed - it took approx 1 year to get stiff, so will not know if this is a real fix until next season

The barrels should be removed from the taps and cleaned carefully (not with anything abrasive) then LIGHTLY smear on a LITTLE graphite grease obtainable from gas spares suppliers (not enough to block the barrel ports ) dont use wd 40 as this will wash off what grease you have left. Test joints with a touch of soapy water afterwards

good luck
