sticky fenders

Any cure for sticky fenders? The plastic on some of mine has gone soft and sticky, presumbaly some form of deteriation caused bu UV. Any known cures? I want to put fender socks on all my fenders.

Someone cleaned your fenders with acitone (sp?) if so think only thing to do is replace or fit socks imho

Mine are sticky after a summer near the fish dock. Jiff eased the tackiness but did not remove it completely so I am also watching this thread.

I've used acetone in Thinners no 7 (I think) to clean fenders where they have gone slightly sticky and picked up grime. As Mike says, this does leave them sticky afterwards, but they dry out after a day or so. Whether it would cure yours is another matter.

Try a little eucalyptus oil and plenty of rags then leave them to dry.
