Sticking Down and Calking a small length of tean decking

By the looks of it I need Sikaflex 290 for the calking and 291 or 292 to stick the plank down.

As it's just the one plank i'm refitting (the old one split) and it's only about 2' long can I get away with both glueing and calking with just one product?

I would rather not buy two tubes of goo and only use 5% of both....

Yes + 1... the 290 differs from the others in elasticity and its ability to withstand prolonged UV exposure. It'll still stick like sh*te to a blanket though.. (pardon my French)

By rights if you wanted to be finicky you should prime the rebates with Sika-primer and insert a little bonding tape, but for a 2' length I'm sure you can sweat that. Just degrease-clean up the rebates with acetone though before you apply your 290, it'll help it adhere better...

Look up CT1 Sealant it comes in many colours and i beleive black. I have used this sealant adhesive alot and its much better than sikaflex

I was reading only today that early Hanseatic League boats (trading across the Baltic/North Sea area) were caulked using a mixture of moss and tar. You could try that to save a few bob! ;-)

stick and seal with the 290 if you are just going for one.
use very heavy weights to hold down when curing or it will lift.
the other way the pro's use is drill and screw using large washers in the joints which will be filled when cured after removal of screws etc.
the advantage of the glue and screw option is that you can screw down to the original deck level.
