I need to repoistion my sterntube in order to swing a bigger prop. The engine/gearbox are in situ. Is it possible to fit a flexible coupling or do I need to lower the engine? The engine is fitted "back to front" with a v-drive. Any thoughts apprieciated

HAd to put mine back in when it came out in my hand this winter! on a GRP hull it isn'ttoo big a deal. I slicedof the rear section of the deadwood so that i could glass the stern tube to the inside face - therefore not covering up the thread the cutlas bearing sits on. I then bolted the whole transmission back together, and (epoxy) glued the severed section back on, held in place with gaffers. when the thickened epoxy hadgone off, I ground back around the join and went over with plenty of glass and epoxy.

of course if the boat's not plastic that won't help much...

a flexible coupling will not do what you want
you would need aqua drive assembly to take up that amount of miss alighnment

could you use a 4 blade prop
talkto a good propeller supplier

Thanks scottie, I already have a 4 bladed prop with a 21" pitch, so am on the limit now. I think the original tube was installed to high, so I think I have to lower it. I really want to know if it is feasable or not without engine removal
