Our stern tube has a screw cap which we fill with grease and then screw back on to the top of the tube. This adds the equivalent of one sugar lump of grease. I would like to replace this system with a remote greaser such is commonly found in chandlers. E C Smith seem to be the only manufacturer I can find. The ads suggest that this comes as part of a kit with 2 x 1/8" and 1/4" fittings + some nylon tube. The cap on our stern tube has an inside dia of 3/4". Is there a way of reconciling one with the other.

the existing greaser will have a pipe to which the new greaser should be attached

another option if its only to make it easier to operate is to braze a bar on to the existing cover

ASAP supplies do greasers and the chaps there seem to know their stuff when you ask them questions so they could be worth a call. EC Smith are I think distributors and don't deal direct with Joe Public though they will answer questions OK.

Check under the 'cup' of the greaser you have, you might find that underneath it feels like a nut, get a spanner on there, I think 5/8ths, the greaser cup should unscrew from the stern tube housing. Then you'll be able to fit the pipe work for the remote greaser.

Threads most likely are BSP.
