Stern Thruster

I urgently need to find out if it is possible to fit a stern thruster to a BROOM OCEAN 34. The depth of the transom is quite narrow, i.e. it is not V - shaped.
Any advice would be valued.

That said, it's usually considered that a stern thruster on a boat this size, with twin shafts and a bow thruster, is not really necessary.

Mine is a single shaft with bow thruster.

Single shaft on a boat this size is perfect but you will benefit from a stern thruster.
It will be possible to fit one. If it isn’t far enough underwater you fit “ears” on the top of the tunnel.
Where are you based? South coast I can recommend so one to fit it.

It seems to have so significant benefits over a more conventional Sleipner unit, e.g. cost, ease of fitting, not holes below the waterline.

Same boat but sedan type. I went through all the hoops and took lots of measurements and found that the small Vetus model will fit. Just. Sleipner bolts to the outside of the transom and if I remember correctly just fits in under the bathing platform. Sadly,at close to 6k fitted, I couldn't justify that level of expenditure for river work.

In my personal opinion…go big or go home
There will be times when just a little push is all you need and that’s fine …but when that wind and current is sending your stern in dangerous directions…you need horsepower…lots of it

Thanks plumbob. I also found the Sleipner too rich for my pocket and decided Vetus would be my only affordable option.

Hello Brind, I have the same model boat as you, did you fit a stern thruster? Am considering fitting one next year.
I saw at a Broom 34 sedan model that had an external stern thruster, it was fitted just below the waterline and had the additional shells fitted.

I had a stern thruster fitted to my 34 Sedan last year.
Fits just beneath the platform.
Now have both thrusters with remote, which is great when single handed.
Cost about 4k.
