hello to all. i got my first boat 2 weeks ago. its a 16 ft speed boat bit of a old girl but shes in good nick. its got a 115hp volvo penta inboured engine which runs and starts on the button. been out twice so far. hit the bottom a few times. so ordered a new prop. it has a hydrolic tilt /trim. when in the water and the stern is all the way down is it ment to lock it self there ??. there is some sort of lock on the bottom of it with a spring to catch it but it dont seem to hold it. i am new to boats as you may have guest lol. it takes so long to get up on plain. and the front is very high even at slow speeds. sometimes it dont get to plain and just revs up. can anyone give me a bit of advise please. many thanks :encouragement:

Not really my area but I thought it worth bumping this up.
I take it the boat has an outdrive? I would imagine the rams should hold it in whatever position you trim it to. The bow sitting high may be because you are sitting on the bow wave not going fast enough to plane.
Is the prop correct for the boat? I believe outboard props have a rubber bush that can slip allowing the engine to rev but not turn the prop, don't know about outdrive ones though.

Sounds like your prop is slipping on its hub after a propstrike, new prop will fix this. The reverse lock is dependant on a spring on the pawl mechanism, they often break, cheap to fix , you will see how it works when its on land, a catch drops over a bar to hold the drive down when selecting reverse.
