On our boat the stern glands are sealed by an arrangement of a stainless steel collar clamped onto the shafts rubbing against a non-rotating graphite(?) collar fixed onto a rubber bellow on the end of the tube (I'm sure there's a nautical name for this device). The fixed and rotating parts are lubricated with seawater drawn through the hull and delivered via a nylon threaded hose fitting going into the graphite part. Anyway, this nylon hose connector has broken and would the panel think it suitable to replace with a brass fitting, which will hopefully be stronger?
Thanks in advance for any answers folks.
