Now my boat is out the water I want to do the stern gland as it leaking. The gland is a piece on bronze tube with a grease nipple and slides inside the stern tube and jubilee cliped to make a seal. I've undone the clips and the bronze bit moves freely.
Where the shaft bolts to gearbox there is a pin through the shaft to hold it onto the flange I've given it a tap with a hammer it's not moved but is a very soft metal as it's bured over, so think I will have cut it flush and punch or drill it.
Should the shaft slide backwards easily to enable me to get the gland off also where's the best place to go for glands?
Hope you understand what iAm on about and can help.
Cheers John
